With the introduction of Bid Package Auctions and 10 Free Bids for new Ganksters, getting started at Gankit.com is easier than ever before. GankIt isn’t your typical auction. Prices are changing, timers are changing, and it’s very important that you know the rules before you begin. After that, you’ll be prepared to get the best deal, and we’ll offer some tips along the way.
Step 1 – Register For an Account
You can register and create a free account from this page. When you register, we will ask you for your name, email address, and preferred username and password. Once you create an account, you will not be able to edit your username.
The auction component of GankIt.com is what is known as a penny auction. Penny auctions are a spin on normal auctions because they allow products to be won at very low prices — up to 99% off retail price.

Step 2 – Buy Bids
See an item you like and want to start bidding? Choose from the pre-configured bundles – 40 up to 1000 bids, or if you prefer a different amount you can create your own custom-sized bundle – from 40 to 2500 bids.
But don’t worry, if you’re not ready to ‘commit,’ we’re rewarding new members with 10 Free Bids. Register now and we’ll add them directly to your new Gankit account.
Step 3 – Pick Your First Auction
Browse through our current Auctions on the “All Items” Page. We list all our live and ‘Coming Soon’ auctions, so you can start bidding now or wait until the product you want is up for grabs. Whether you’re interested in a 46″ RCA Flat screen TV, an Apple Macbook Air or a $100 Amazon Gift Card, Gankit.com has an auction for you.
Don’t want to spend money on a large bid package but want to maximize your advantage? Bid on one of our New Bid Package Auctions. Winning a bid package auction can turn a few well placed bids into 500 new bids – and at a fraction of the price.
Step 4 – Bid
If you are familiar with penny auctions, this process will seem familiar. If not, we’re here to help.
Every auction starts at $0.01. Each time you or another user places a bid, the auction price increases by one penny.
Example: If the auction price is $9.07, exactly 906 bids have been placed.
When the timer gets below 20 seconds, any bid placed will increase the timer back to 20 seconds. This gives you and other users another chance to bid, similar to a traditional auction’s Going Once, Going Twice, Sold.
Example: 14s, 13s, 12s, 11s, (bid) 20s, 19s, 18s, …
Auctions end when no one places a bid, resulting in the timer reaching zero. The current high bidder when the timer hits zero wins the auction.
The official timer runs on servers maintained by Amazon Web Services, and it is not necessarily identical to the timer displayed on your screen. We recommend you refresh your page periodically, and be careful when placing a bid if the timer is under 3 seconds. Small delays that occur during the transmission of your bid caused by computer lag, internet lag or a slow network connection may result in the auction ending before your bid reaches our servers. Using a Bid Butler alleviates any potential communication lags that may be experienced when placing a single bid. For more information, please review our Terms of Service.

Product Search! Graphs & Real Time Value?

As the year comes to a close we wanted to thank the thousands of ganksters and different media outlets who have helped put GankIt on the map. The GankIt team has been hard at work redesigning the site for the new year. Next time you visit GankIt.com, you will notice a brand new color scheme and home page. In our redesign, our goal was to give you as much important information as quickly as possible. To fulfill this goal, we made three strategic changes to the user experience: the home page, the search bar, and the product performance page.
On the home page, we now have three featured items as well as eight auctions that are getting hot soon. Additionally, the Completed Ganks, Won Auctions, All Items, and Last Call pages show twelve items per page instead of ten. You’ll also notice that the navigation bar on the top has been condensed and now includes a Categories drop-down menu that lets you sort upcoming auctions based on what type of product you are looking for.
One of the most anticipated features, the search bar, has been integrated into the header. From every page on our site, you can find whatever you want right away, just like a web search. The search bar auto-completes queries with selections from our inventory so you know what products we have at any time. You can also search for a general term like “gift card” and see all of the gift cards we have to offer.
Recently, a London Investment firm launched a Twitter based hedge fund. Twitter empowers you to vote with your voice, GankIt empowers you to vote with your buying decisions.
When you search for a specific product you will be taken to a new Product Performance page. This is your first introduction to the world of Gankonomics, the real time value of a product or service, 100% determined by you, the consumer. With each Gank, you decide how much a product is worth.
Take for example the Product Performance page for the 16GB iPad (WiFi). It will show you how that item has performed on GankIt throughout its entire lifetime. What happens when a gankster doesn’t GankIt in time? More specifically, what happens when three consecutive ganksters don’t GankIt in time? Well, someone gets a brand new, factory-sealed 16GB iPad for $41.75! And for those of you keeping track, that’s less than the auction’s end price.
How could something amazing like this happen?
